The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has released The Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study – Brandon Road Draft Integrated Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Statement – Will County, Illinois (GLMRIS-Brandon Road Report) for public review and comment. The report can be found on the GLMRIS – Brandon Road website at http://glmris.anl.gov/brandon-rd/.

The GLMRIS-Brandon Road Draft Report evaluates potential control options and technologies at the Brandon Road Lock & Dam to prevent upstream, interbasin transfer of Mississippi River Basin aquatic nuisance species into the Great Lakes Basin while minimizing impacts to waterway uses and users and identify a recommended plan. The draft report and integrated environmental impact statement provide the basis for the Tentatively Selected Plan.

The release of the draft report is followed by a 45-day public comment period which will end September 21. The Corps is in the process of planning public meetings in order to open a dialogue and obtain feedback. Those meetings will be announced soon. In addition to the meetings, the public will have the opportunity to provide comment throughout the 45 day period by visiting the GLMRIS – Brandon Road website at http://glmris.anl.gov/brandon-rd/. Comments may also be mailed to: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, ATTN: GLMRIS- Brandon Road Comments, 231 S. LaSalle St., Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604.
